Nobody’s hiding it. You just want it gone.

Sweat, warmth and bacteria do their work session after session. The odor doesn’t just linger — it settles in, builds up, and eventually becomes part of the shoe itself.

You notice it most after a while on the wall, and every time you slip the shoes off mid-session — which happens a lot. You don’t want to be the smell your friends climb next to. And sometimes it’s bad enough that the shoes get banished to the balcony, or stink up the whole car ride home.

Prevention works — if you start early. Used from day one, the good ones keep new shoes fresh. But that ship has already sailed for the pair in your bag.

Deodorants only cover it. They mask the smell for a bit — then it fades by the next session and the shoes stink again.

Nothing actually resets them. Once the odor is embedded, covering it isn’t enough. The shoe needs to start over — and that’s the gap.

Our story

Built by climbers who finally wanted the smell gone for good.

We’re not a lab and we’re not a fragrance house. We’re a small group of climbers in Berlin. In our crew the shoe smell is no secret — we joke about it all the time. It’s just genuinely annoying, and nobody wants to be the one stinking out the session.

We tried the DIY tricks that help for a day, then fade by the next climb. We tried the prevention sprays — great from day one, but they wear off once you pull the shoes off after a session. Nothing actually reset a pair that was already gone. So we started working on something that could.

RØQ is the product we wanted for our own gear — honest, simple, and made for shoes that have earned their wear.

We’re early — and we want to build the best version with the first 150 climbers.

No paid reviews, no five-star quotes. We tested RØQ in our own shoes and in Berlin bouldering gyms — and now we want to keep refining it together with the people who actually use it.

Every batch starts on our own well-used shoes. If it doesn’t work for the worst pair in the bag, it doesn’t ship.

We shared early samples within Berlin bouldering communities and listened — to what worked, and to what didn’t.
